Welcome

When storm winds hit the mountains, the trees most likely to fall are those that are standing alone. The trees that grow close together shelter one another and are more likely to thrive.

In Dakota County, MN, we live in a community of abundance--abundant wealth, abundant food, abundant comforts. The potential to stand together in caring for one another is awesome. And yet too many in our community are left standing alone...and without.

When people in our community are hungry, and are relying on the generosity of others in order to eat, we have a responsibility and a privilege. The responsibility is to meet those needs. The privilege is to create the kind of community in which we would all choose to live...where care unites us against the storms of hunger, isolation, and hopelessness.

We can do this together. With this belief in mind, Project FoodStock was formed.

Project FoodStock’s approach is to encourage active and timely responses to the specific needs of our community, including:
  • The great divide between abundance and disparity in Dakota County, MN
Project FoodStock seeks to grow the community of care by encouraging a system in which neighbors care for one another through action.
  • An increasing demand for the resources of food shelves nationwide
Project FoodStock implements sustainable models of giving to ensure that food shelves in Dakota County are consistently stocked to meet the increasing need.
  • Hunger as a daily state of existence for many in Dakota County, MN
